small mail art + letter archive by the artist jim boden sent to my mum between 1979 and 1981 (a few are co-addressed to my dad as well) -- a couple of years before i was born. they were college friends, and these pieces used to be in our family photo albums when i was growing up. i was totally entranced by them as a child, they were so mysterious... had forgotten all about them until a few years back - my mum gave them to me after i had gotten involved in the m-a network.

i have been planning to scan these materials in for a few years but haven't gotten around to it yet. lots of image transfers, rubber stamping, abstraction and collage plus one photocopied zine. the photo is of jim in 1979, taken by my mum. he is still an active artist, living and teaching in south carolina. surely some of you know/remember him! :)

my dad says that we used to visit his studio in lowertown saint paul in the early '90s but i do not remember his studio visits specifically -- we spent a lot of time in lowertown looking at art when i was a kid!
