Received this sad news:

Hi Ruud,

Recently, I sent some mail art to MaoMao aka Nat from Australia (http://iuoma-network.ning.com/profile/ScarletLetterbox). I've had a letter back from her husband letting me know that she has passed away quite unexpectedly, and to please let the IUOMA members know as he does not have access to her account.

I am shocked and saddened by her passing, as I considered her a dear fellow artist friend. I know that she was planning a trip to Oaxaca Mexico over Day of the Dead this year and I was so looking forward to all of the amazing art she was going to create and the stories she'd have to tell.

Please let me know if there's anything I can do to get the word out, or if you'd like a copy of the letter her husband sent me.

Thanks in advance,

Dawn Currin AKA Tiny Whisk

I am kind of new to this website. I sent you a friend request. Would you like to exchange some mail art? Making art is part of me and I'm prolific....so mailing it to someone is a good outlet for me.

Hey Maomao,

Greetings from a sunny spring day here in Idaho.  Hoping this finds you very well in Australia. I was hoping to see you in the mail but not sure if you ever sent me anything.  “No worries”, as they are famous for saying in Australia.  I’ll just send you another little something.  Cheers, Debra

Oh I love that, finding the thrill even after 20 years! Sounds like you're compatible in a unique way of long absences. Boy, your hearts must be really fond by now!

The stitching might be trickier on a walk....

Strangely, I found this little gem of an envelope in a thrift store just this week!

A weird convergence of mail art group think I guess..........

I just heard on the news today that Matt Groening's 65th birthday is today.  National Public radio provides lots of useless information (and news).  Thanks for posting that comic the other day.  I can remember when his work first came on the scene and we found him to be hysterically funny.

I would love that! We have similar interests, although I don’t tend towards eating paper!

Earthling, this may be the last but certainly, it´s not the least welcome message to IUOMA you are going to receive. I’m a celestial mail artist living in a heavenly uncharted corner of the faraway universe called “Republik van Patland”. I would love to be the other end if you wish to trade mail art with a celestial mail artist.  If that is the case at the time your envelope should read as follows:

The Celestial Scribe
Terrene Embassy
Republik van Patland
Caixa Postal 461
Curitiba-PR
80011-970
Brazil

I look forward to seeing a piece of yours in my terrene mailbox. I´ll do my homework after receiving your artwork. This is nothing less than a celestial promise.  I’m Patricio, Celestial Scribe & Republik van Patland Official Envelope Provider.
