When I was preparing this mail to send to two Orange lovers, I found out that there still is no IUOMA-group for Orange lovers.
So here it is! If Orange is your favourite colour, and if you want to share Orange mail with the world: join!
(by the way, my favourite colour is Turquoise...)

If you ISP uses dynamic IP addresses (most do) and your IP is reset by your service (happens periodically as they add new customers, servers, after a power outage, etc.) then SOME of your devices can stay connected or refind the router and others will not. So the fact that your husband's computer is not having a problem does not rule out the dynamic IP issue as the most likely source of the problems you are reporting with connectivity of devices (GDrive would be a separate issue if your tablet is getting on the 'net fine but just not accessing the Drive). We have this device connection issue at my office periodically, especially after a power outage, and to get everyone back up, we have to reboot the router.
Thanks Linda. Good to know you are a techie!
The problem is not the router as my husband's PC etc functions OK. Our printer which was wireless gave up its wirelessness so we connect it by cable to my Husband's PC as it is in the same room. I send files via DropBox and print with his PC now, which is no trouble. I have my own workroom one floor up. My PC connects perfectly too, by our internal network; here I am at the moment.
What I do not understand is why my Android tablet which used to connect to Gdrive easily now does it when it pleases. It must be Gdrive. I will reinstall it and see what happens. That is how I used to pass work from one machine to the other.
Now I will continue to pass files from phone, which I use to take photos, and tablet to PC with the appropriate cables. What annoy me most is the waste of time with all these time-saving devices.
Thank you for your advice Linda. And by the way I hope to find the time today to upload your work to my blog . I do not mind using my old laptop and scanner. I enjoy using good old Windows XP. Why did they have to change it? Progress it isn't!
Oh, meant to say, glad you got the card.
Sorry about the tech troubles, Martha. I suggest you try turning everything off, then taking your router off power for a count of 15 or so and then turning everything back on. It sounds like you might have had a dynamic IP problem that made it difficult for several devices to find the network. A full reboot usually fixes it but you have to leave things off for long enough for the old IP connection to be erased from memory.
(also a techie)
Ahhh, see? a copybook can be closed, accidentally or on purpose, and nothing gets deleted. Fike, you are a proper geek! but lovable nonetheless.
Back to being serious. My outlook at the moment is tinted by latests digital experiences. Weeks ago my tablet stopped talking to the printer. The printer, which also was my scanner, now in a huff will not talk to anybody. Table top PC will ignore tablet and phone. My photos were stuck in the phone but I solved it all this morning by connecting the phone to the PC with the cable I use to feed said phone its diet of electrons. Simple!
And, IT ARRIVED! Linda. What a supreme orangeness of a card. Thank you so much. I have to connect my old laptop with Windows XP to my old scanner and I will upload your artwork to my blog.
Thanks all. A spreadsheet makes a lot of sense. I've just been keeping a text file for each group but I think I accidentally closed them without saving and lost record of one small mailing. (Not a huge deal)I'm going to transfer all my text files onto one spreadsheet now.
I use a freeware spreadsheet. Handwriting be darned and the heck with writing it twice.
Linda, thanks! I am looking forward to your mail.
Records; early in my Mail Art career I learned that it is good to keep a record of arriving mail, short description of it and date of response with a description too, to avoid sending the same thing again to the same person. It would work perfectly if I could read my own writing but anyway it is a great help. Because of the atrocious hand writing once I started an Excel file but found out it was quicker to use pen and paper.
Being organized does not come naturally to an artist but it pays.
Wonderful Martha. I sent you something about a week ago, you should get it any day. I have to keep better records of what I've sent. Amber I think you're getting double the orange because I just realized I forgot to write the first one on the list... but your address looked mighty familiar....okay... need system!
