Keith Chambers, Nancy Bell Scott, Jay Block, Carina Granlund… Plus More!

As bad as things are, I have received some outstanding mail art including these stamp sets from Keith Chambers' Dada Centennial Collection. Not available in any store they are a lovely achievement in homage to both stamps and dada if a person can pay homage to dada. That does sound like it should be illegal. A coupla close ups.

Also included: an ATC…

…here's the cover to the entire portfolio. Note Electrical Tape binding at top and bottom.

Thank you, Keith. I only hope I can use them wisely. On letters to congresspeople perhaps?

Another characteristically richly textured collage from Nancy. Patti and I got a chance to visit Nancy and Phil in Maine in October. It was, as always, a chance to grind our teeth in unison. Which we did. Nancy, your thank you note is almost in the mail. But thanks for this in the meantime. (Stain from the Marie Wintzer Collection).

Jay Block sent me this seemingly demented pop up card. (Note to viewer: What look like white wings are the unfolding pop-up petals). I have to say that I got stuck on the Salacious level with this piece before I noticed that Jay's neo-soft core porn had yet even more hidden chambers and was actually anatomically correct and therefore we are grandfathering the whole shebang in under the rubric of higher education. (Mr. Block wishes us to note that the encouragements to join IUOMA were not part of his original piece). The envelope was a work unto itself. Thank you, Jay.

FInally, in the Above and Beyond Category....Carina took an old moldy linocut I made in 1978 and turned it into an embroidery! I love blind collaborations. Who knew it would be soooo unfortunately appropriate but we will not dwell on that. Also included were a pair of new eyes...(BTW, they work great. Things look so rosy they border on raw). Thank you so much, Carina. I was touched.

And here's the plus part as promised in the title: Envelopes...from Carina, Nadine Wendell-Mojica and Keith Chambers plus a reprise of the new eyes.

And lastly, I have another robust collection of ephemera outtakes from my bottomless scanning project. These are mostly ads from women's magazines of the 1930s, 40s, 50s...plus a lot of other stuff. Beautiful images. Not available in any store. No salesman will call however it would be nice to be reimbursed for the postage as I am not in the .0001 tax bracket. Other than that… free to the first caller.

Finally, lastly, in closing, to sum up....we have stepped in it big time. I say this only: Don't withdraw. Don't lose your sense of humor and keep your imagination working on ways to right this ship. That's what we're supposed to be good at, isn't it?

U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a vast conglomerational octopus IS a person, which means you have all the rights of a person and therefore deserve to have your vital blogging funds restored yesterday. Hurry up and apply before the next E.O., we need you around.

I receive no financial assistance for this ministry, Nancy. I guess you know that about me by now. But certain people believe that Dave Mail Art Inc is not a person but a vast conglomerational octopus. Well, they're right about that part but is that any reason to cut back on my vital blogging funds? I think not.

There's no one we'd rather have on the National Restore Funding Cuts Council than you, Dave. We all hope you'll include fancy hotels and poor banks on the agenda. We know you'll do the right thing.

Thank you for the thank you and I'll raise you one more by saying thank you for your book of Alternate Facts that just arrived . This will be blogged as soon as we restore some of our funding cuts. Keep the faith, Nancy. The sword of righteousness has never been lighter.

Another great blog from Dave. (Am I behind or what! For good reason -- the teeth-grinding and all.)

Your "thank-you note" deserved a full symphony orchestra to introduce it. No better mail art.

The term "seemingly demented" could apply to many things nowadays, but I'm enjoying it here at IUOMA this evening way more than anywhere else.

You're welcome, Carina and it is, isn't Angie?
