Mail art by IUOMA member Monsenhor enVide neFelibata (Porto, Portugal)

January 18, 2017 - I suppose I should have figured out a way to make an effective “trigger warning” for this new addition to the greatest show on earth. On the other hand, I know there are many "Ruben" fans here at the IUOMA, so many of you will not be at all surprised.

Monsenhor enVide neFelibata is actually a very talented and friendly member of the Eternal Network. He is, I think, best known for these penis stamps/prints that he mails around the world. Back in mail art’s Golden Age, before the daily post was quickly shared with the world on the internet, items were often more “intimate.” (Even Ray Johnson was once, according to legend, reported to the police for distributing "pornography" when someone completely unfamiliar accidentally received some mail art.)

In the 1980s, for instance, people were photocopying their genitals and various bodily excretions. Come to think of it, though, I do not recall anyone (as I’m guessing was done here) coating a penis with ink and making a print. Can Monsenhor enVide ne Felibata claim to have originated this practice? Someone must know the history of the penis print. He also kindly included some Trashpo material:

Thank you Monsenhor enVide neFelibata!

An eye catcher, that's for sure.  Thanks for blogging.

Thx friends!

You networkers on FB know this amazing work has already garnered more than a fair share of comments. In fact, you might describe it as pun-ishing or Lewd-icrous.

Probably Oh Boy (Tostado) gets the prize for requesting similar stamps of female genitalia and getting at least one from, I believe, Corgifeet aka Angie.

Does art still have the power to shock? Maybe.
