Stunning Stamps by Jesse Edwards (Jesarchives) (Carcassonne, France)

Jes - 3.18.2015 - 1

Mail art by IUOMA member Jesse Edwards (Jesarchives) (Carcassonne, France)

March 19, 2015 - Jesse Edwards sent this work from France although he has roots in California and thus qualifies as part of my ongoing West Coast USA Mail Art Survey.

I have gotten to know Jesse Edwards a bit online – as much as you can really get to know someone through this imperfect medium – and I am are very impressed with the art I have seen. He thoughtfully sent me these absolutely gorgeous stamps that I will treasure. They are worth a closer look:

Jes - 3.18.2015 - 2

Jesse Edwards’ work, even conveyed in these tremendous stamps, tends toward complexity rather than the minimal. Much of what he does borders upon vispo even if it is not intentionally vispo.

I am very interested in the archive aspect of Jesse Edwards but cannot provide a great deal of information. Tantalizing cards were included in the mailing:

Jes - 3.18.2015 - 3

A very impressive list! I would love to see some of those holdings. I note the San Francisco address and assume mail sent will reach its proper destination? I also have this:

Jes - 3.18.2015 - 4

Deepest thanks to Jesse Edwards of Jes Archives for this wonderful mail art!

Thanks for the wonderful work, Jesse, and glad you were able to "drop by."

So you discovered Richard? I think Richard discovered you. And I can relate to the in-and-out thing but glad you are back.

No one I know from "back in the day," Richard. But I suppose it's not so much what they did then as what they're doing now. Jesse Edwards has been a pleasant discovery, and there seems to be a large body of work to dig into. I suppose I see your point about mystery. I can't really find any info that's linear.

The Jesarchives look Fab, but I can't see anywhere to access them online.
