Rare Authentic Genuine Trashpo by Jim Leftwich (Roanoke, Virginia, USA)

Jim - 9.29.2014 - 1

Mail-art by IUOMA member Jim Leftwich (Roanoke, Virginia, USA)

September 29, 2014 - Although it is not signed and I have endured a number of mail-art pranks, I am confident – based upon examination by experts – that this recently received postcard-size piece is contemporary Trashpo created by none other than Jim Leftwich (aka Jesus Jim).

In the world of Trashpo and DKult, great significance is attached to a series of scannerbed compositions made by Jim Leftwich in 2005 using packaging debris and other trash. These later appeared on Fluxlist Europe circa 2007 and are widely considered prototypes that have had a profound influence on the Trashpo being created today, even in instances where the trashpoet is not familiar with the originals.

Certainly, Trashpo has evolved a long way from those first pieces made by Jesus Jim in 2005. Surely many have wondered: What kind of Trashpo is Jim Leftwich making nearly a decade later? Surprisingly, we have very few examples. Jim Leftwich comments on Trashpo and communicates with DKulters, yet the actual work is scare. This piece, now in the possession of DKULTNY, is a priceless addition to Trashpo. I am pleased to be able to share the image with all who are interested.

Currently, this work is not being offered for sale by DKULTNY and is presented for artistic exhibition and educational purposes. NO ENQUIRIES CONCERNING PRICE, PLEASE!

OK, backed into a corner here. I'm determining this on the assumption Trashpo will survive & a guess of fractional relation to the Ray Johnson market. In other words, what is the probability that Jesus Jim will "make it" into the upper echelons of vispo (& vispo will enter the cultural mainstream) and/or Jesus Jim will do something so outrageous he'll live in infamy.

DKULTNY will not part with this for any less than $500. It's not signed & it's a postcard. I have to factor that in. The price is based on some future speculation, but I see it as a good investment at that price. We could work out a payment plan.

DK, certainly YOU can inquire. You're DK.

Does anyone else have original JL Trashpo made in 2014? I can't estimate exactly what this worth at the moment. I'll try to come up with something.

can I Inquire about price? or are you the National Enquirer? I don't want to buy it, but I would liike to sell it for you. My FluxusAmongUs account on ebay is in very high standing and has amassed an average profit of .01. you would of course, get your cut, which you can split with TJ.  Best regards, Inquiring Minds
