MAIL ART PROJECT--LETTER TO YOURSELF

Please write a letter to YOURSELF. It can be literal or any kind of interpretation, but intended for You and You alone. Send it to me and in one year's time, I will send it back to you--unopened, unchanged. They will be locked up in the DKult temperature controlled Vault. Make sure your address is clearly visible.  I will send all submissions back to their owners in November of 2015. What would you like to tell the future you?

I think Coke can eat away plastic, glass, stomach lining etc. it would be a one time scannerpo Performance Art piece.  Better get a grant for that.

Dan--your mail arrived and wow!!!!  will post pics but the collabs are amazing. what on earth did you print on? how did you get an image directly printed on cardboard? is the one some kind of ancient Egyptian parchment paper!!??? amazing and odd texture.  and I love the Amazing and the Odd.  nice jelly donut.  I had forgotten the boston creme pie one

Representational Trashpo - 2

Comment by De Villo Sloan on July 27, 2014 at 5:09pm

Folks who might engage in scannerpo can learn from our experiences, Dan.

There's the ordinary residue from glue, ink, paint, etc. Food (& it's wasteful anyway) will gunk it up permanently. I could never clean off the peanut butter residue from the old scanner. The cream-filled donuts were worse. Moan Lisa egged me on with the "Spitpo." Gatorade and especially orange juice did damage. I wonder what coke or pepsi would do?

All the same, scannerbed composition is a Trashpo practice.

As is obvious from the image I sent below, my aging Epson 4490 is in need of replacing. The bulbs have all dimmed and changed colors to the point where trying to calibrate scanned art work is getting tricky to impossible. Maybe I should just go on and plunk down the bucks for a new V700 and sacrifice this old one for some truly nasty experimental ScannerPo.

Around that time I was also planning colDKuts where I was going to scan a heap of sliced bolgne. ham, turkey & bacon. I was destroying so many scanners that I gave up on that approach.

Agreed. That PB&J piece is museum quality! You never cease to amaze me, DVS.

Diane, you rejected a concept because it was nasty??? Unbelievable!
