“International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8th. It is rooted in the early 20th century women's demonstrations claiming for equality of rights, improvements to working conditions and the right to vote, in Europe and in the USA. This day became official with the United Nations in 1977, inviting each country to celebrate a day devoted to women's rights. Women's Day is one of the 87 international days intitiated and acknowledged by the UN. It is a day of demonstrations around the world : it is the opportunity to demand equality, and to take stock of women's situation in society. Traditionally, activist women's groups and organizations prepare demonstrations all around the world to lead their protests to get results, improve the women's condition and celebrate their victories and improvements.”
