Sobre el Proyecto

Paisitos es una plataforma multidisciplinaria de pensamiento sobre el imaginario radical en el cono sur.
Sus producciones generan: textos, obras de arte, charlas, (re)encuentros y un archivo en progreso de
arte correo entre Suiza y Uruguay. El eje de todo el proyecto es afectivo y biográfico, en todo caso nonlineal:
se trata de profundizar el concepto que plantea Camnitzer sobre “metáfora sin reciprocidad”*.
El proyecto hace foco en el arte político y en los actores de las políticas memoriales recientes.

Plataforma de Arte Correo

La plataforma es una instalación (work in progress), con base en la Residencia para artistas Utopiana-Ginebra (www.rhiz.eu). Desde allí se lanzará esta convocatoria.
Dicha instalación, se lleva a cabo en un espacio de 4x4 mts, sus paredes están totalmente cubiertas con un alfombrado amarillo, verde, rosado y blanco, que representan los colores de las papeletas de voto cuando los referéndums para anular la ley de caducidad en 1989 y 2009; los colores están repartidos en el mismo porcentaje de los votos de la gente en estas dos ocasiones.
Activar la plataforma de arte correo es crear un espacio liberado a partir de un dato estadístico o de una realidad legal que desafiamos a través de otros instrumentos (intelectuales, emotivos y artísticos).
Entonces, la idea es crear un segmento “espacio-tiempo” en el cual podamos “anular” la ley.

Por lo cual, la instalación se plantea como un espacio de utopía concreta.

Cada vez que reciba una postal o una obra de arte correo iré cambiando/interviniendo la plataforma quitando un pedazo de amarillo o blanco (colores de las papeletas de voto para el NO). La instalación está completa cuando se logren solamente dos colores (verde y rosado, papeletas para el
SI). Participar es una forma de comprometerse en contra de la ley, de deconstruirla intelectualmente y de crear conjuntamente una forma de activismo artístico.

Lanzamiento de Convocatoria:  El 24/4 a las 19:00 hs en la Fundación de Arte Contemporáneo en Montevideo,Uruguay, se realizará una acción de simultaneidad territorial, a través de una charla virtual desde la plataforma en Utopiana-Ginebra.
Durante la misma desarrollaremos el contenido del proyecto, también podré contestar a las preguntas y compartir un aperitivo virtual con el publico montevideano. Habrá una intervención de Clemente Padín sobre arte correo y activismo artístico.

A partir de este momento la convocatoria está abierta.
Están invitados a participar al llamado todo/@/x/-s los que deseen contribuir a lograr un espacio (simbólico y concreto) de anulación de la ley a través de una acción colectiva y activar una dinámica de pensamiento sobre lo ético y lo social a través de un gesto solidario y critico. La convocatoria es abierta a todo público (con un énfasis en Latinoamérica). La obra puede ser realizada en cualquier formato y técnica (puede ser un texto, una postal o cualquier cosa que tenga que ver con el tema del llamado).

Una vez que esté realizada lo podrás enviar por mail: [e-mail] (si la obra necesita ser imprimida de forma particular agregar instrucciones) o por correo postal a: Paisitos prject: Utopiana av. des Eidguenots 21 - 1203 Genève (dejando sin cargos tu trabajo en el FAC si estas en Montevideo)   . Se constituirá un archivo con las obras y se difundirá la comunicación con los participantes así como la documentación de la evolución de la plataforma. La plataforma podrá tomar en el futuro otras formas (archivo móvil, exposiciones, publicaciones eventos efímeros etc.)

Bio
Giulia Cilla es artista y operadora cultural. Se recibió en la academia de Brera, Milán (I), tiene un master en critica curaduría y cybermedia (CCC) en la academia de bellas artes de Ginebra (CH) donde vive y trabaja. Actualmente esta cursando un Ph.D en la academia de bellas artes de Viena (A), donde desarrolla su investigación sobre el imaginario radical en el cono sur. Ha expuesto su trabajo en varias ciudades europeas y en Uruguay. En ginebra integra la asociación “Jardin des disparus” desde el 2011.

The project

Paisitos is a participatory platform conceived as a continual work in progress, and a space for critical thinking around the radical imaginary. 

This “arte correo”/mail art/  platform is an attempt to reappropriate a political practice considered obsolete.

One of the main reasons that led me to choose this means is that, by its nature, this practice is not subjected to the market criterieon of art commodification.
Paisitos extends and deepens the concept of praxis, functionning as a bridge between Switzerland (where the platform is based) and Uruguay (where the platform was born), by developing a methodology of reciprocity.

Paisitos aims to articulate a reflection on and with contemporary memorial politics actors,  with a special interest in citizens movements such as MADRES de plaza de Mayo, HIJOS, FEDEFAM, former Tupamaros, the association  the association “Le jardin des disparus” (Geneva), and their links to activist art practices in the dictatorial and post-dictatorial context of Uruguay and southern cone of latin america.

The relationship of radical imaginary’s concept of C. Castoriadis to the struggle against the amnesty law led by present day citizens' movements is just one example of an attempt to establish a form of radical imaginary that ultimately takes the form of a concrete social utopia.

The participative platforme of mail art

My proposal is to generate a network of collaboration and critical reflection on the relationship (as well as the boundaries) between art and politics. Paisitos would like to explicitly link the  dialogue between human rights groups and critical contemporary cultural production in Geneva, Montevideo and abroad.

I chosed these two cities as main protagonist because of biographical and strategic reasons (i.e Geneva is the headquarters of NGOs, international organizations and various citizens' associations).

Instead of addresing the subject from a historical and linear approach, Paisitos begins by generating an emotional reflection on historical material. So my approach to this project primarily results from personal necessity, which develops into intellectual and artistic material.

The platform aims to highlight the influence of  trauma theory and psycho-politic, Agambian biopolitic agambienne in realtionship to social practices at the time of the dictatorship. In particular, the contribution of women's movements in these practices have contributed to the reconfiguration of both political and artistic territories.

Paisitos choses a  format of “real exchange” that emphasizes an anachronistic temporality in order to question the notion of "authorship" and open it up to the more inclusive concept of cultural producer-s.

The name of the platform emphasizes the biographical link and suggests a reflection on the colonial dynamics and the so called relationship between "cultural center and cultural periphery" that Luis Camnitzer identifys in his book "Didactic of liberation" in which the designation of Uruguay as Switzerland of America "... Perhaps the use of an image without reciprocity (Switzerland has never proclaimed itself the Uruguay of Europe), revealed how inner and international  perception worked and still work. "

How to participate

The platform itself is envisioned as an installation. The room is fully carpeted in yellow, green, white and pink, serving as a metaphor by corresponding to the colors and percentages of each ballot from the referendums against the amnesty law, in 1989 and 2009.
Even though a physical space hosts the project (at Utopiana, artist residency and cultural space in Geneva) , Paisitos is a mobile and adaptable place that can take different forms according to the spaces where it might find itself.

This project aims to intervene in the perpetuation of this type of stereotypical perceptions, by identifying and deconstructing their mechanisms to suggest alternative notions of perception and imaginary.

The call is open to everyone (no limits of age, religion, sex, or profession, you dont even need to be an artist) the contribution is free (you choose the format: it can be a video, a text, drawing...) the only thing it should be related to the thematics metiontioned before).
