Vol. 24: Sharon Silverman's "50 Mail Art Books" Project

"50 Mail Art Books" Project - Volume 24 Collaboration by IUOMA Members
Sharon Silverman (Haverhill, MA) and Jayne B. Lyons (Lakeville, MN).

Late last year I participated in Sharon Silverman's 2019 50 Mail Art Books project. I discovered the mail art call on IUOMA-ning. Early participants of the project shared photographs and blog posts of their collaborative books on the platform, and I was rather intrigued.

"Fit flatters you!" by Jayne B. Lyons (Lakeville).

This project is my first interaction with Sharon Silverman. From what I gather, Sharon is no stranger to ambitious mail art projects.

This collaborative book project called for mail artists to submit ten original pieces of art work (8.5" x 11") to Sharon Silverman. Sharon scanned the art work, and combined it with ten pieces of her art. The result is this unique 8" x 8" mail art book. She mailed a copy to me, and kept a copy for herself. At the end of the project, Sharon will have a one of a kind library of 50 mail art books.

I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to collaborate with this talented artist.

Many thanks to Sharon Silverman.
