Vintage postcard from Mim inspires visit to Zonar's cafe in Athens

Visiting in Athens these "summer" sunny April days,

'stopped by this famous cafe in the center of Athens: Zonar's:

That's an altered mail art postcard that Mim had sent some time ago,

from friends who have a Greek restaurant in Richmond, Virginia.

The cafe in Athens had closed some time back but fortunately has been remodeled

and reopened in it's 1940's splendid decor.

Edmund had a nice turkey-cheese snack,

and we sat for hours to watch the world

...strolling by on a sunny Sunday in Athens!

The building reflected in the window of the Zonar's cafe is

across the "Panepistimiou Street" and was the 1910 home

of the archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann , who uncovered ancient Troy, etc.

It is now the Numismatic Museum of Greece...wonderful ancient coins there!

Thank you, Mim, for the Zonar's card,

and greetings to Stella! xxx
