Hi Sharon, glad to hear you are feeling better. Take care. And yes, you may use the purple stamp and play with it...I think the original-original may be a Canadia $10 stamp, and that the "Canada" part was cut off? anyway, if you type "old postage stamp images" at google, you get to see and download some millions! :-)

I am glad you are feeling better. The name doesn't ring a bell but I lived in the Rockville, Olney area for 15 years. In Germantown I did a mural for a former neighbor Harriet Berger in a day care center she had called Peppertree, I think. My ex was Shelly Skolnick and he is an attorney. If you dream it pass it on. I am Jewish and we used to belong to B'nai Shalom of Olney synagogue.

Sharon! As of yet I have not received a "note" from you... will keep an eye out. It's hard to keep up with this forum plus FB - do the best I can! I will let you know when the missive is received. xx

Sharon, I lived in the Olney-Derwood area (Rockville) for a long time raising my kids who went to Cashell Elementary, Redland Middle, and Magruder High. I worked at the election polls, and at a craft store in Olney and at a garden center as well as volunteered all over the place. I was in Womens Caucus for the Arts and have exhibited my art all over the area. I have lived in DC for 15 years after divorcing but I was born in DC.

Oh my, Sharon...be careful with that ouzo,
tis good stuff in small doses :-)
Remember what the ancient Greeks said:
"Nothing to Excess" !
Glad you are feeling better, and thank you for the nice comments
about the purple stamps...just some fun stuff. I think it is
from an old Canadian stamp, I have to hunt up the original.
Be well,
Katerina

Howdy,

I use Microsoft Paint and Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0. My self-portrait stamp was done solely with Paint which is why I "hand-drew" the grid behind the central image (vignette).

For FLUXUS, read Wikipedia and note that the orignator of this list, Ruud Jannssen, is one of the members listed there (among others!)

I know all about perforator lust! I wanted one for several years before I finally won one in an eBay auction, then just a couple of months later, got another one! Each required driving several hundred miles to pick it up, but it was worth it. The Franklin is worn and missing a few pins, but the Rosback is ready to go. Often, perforator owners are willing to perforate your items for a "fee" of 1 sheet for every 10 perfed (which I would be glad to do.)

As my art teacher/mentor always said, "Have fun!"

Howdy!

Thanks for the nice comment. For the issue at hand, I borrowed a scan of real stamps then superposed my photo in the vignette. The grid lines behind the vignette are hand drawn (via mouse) except that in processing an asymmetrical pattern developed. The frame for the stamp is another scan, this time of a "Trial Color Plate Proof" (a philatelic term) for a 19th Century issue except that "F" and "D" replace the letters at the upper corners (for "Fluxus Dakota").

I like to digitally render most artistamps, although my very first one was hand-drawn (when I was a teenager). The ones I print and mail are usually perforated on a Rosback perforator or a Franklin (both 19th Century models).

I'll send you some examples in the near soon.
