STRANGE MAIL ART KARMA LEADS TO COLLAGE FOR A VEGETARIAN

I haven't received much mail art from the UK since I joined IUOMA more'n four years ago - no sir. But what came in today from Norwich (John Cleese: CLOCKWISE!) as the third piece of three is so amazing that I've almost forgotten the reset of my fellow members from GB:

A hippo in the bathtub. That reminds me of a song of the  brilliant US band Little Feat:

"Put my package in your mail box baby so it won't get lost
But you caught me thinkin' foul play with this cheesy piece of post
Throw me a dime, throw me a line
'Cause there's a hippo in the bathtub with the blues
I hear you moan, I hear you moan, I hear you moan"

Slightly altered by me. If you know the song you'll understand, if you don't - well ,,,

The grand opening revealed this package in transparent plastic wrapping:

So far, so great! Let's see what it really is that I got. Two items. First is a Feng Shui book made from four sheets of thick beige paper looking like this:

Six pages with pasted comic strip clippings all related to Feng Shui (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feng_shui):

These congregation of monks most probably belong to the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. I have met many in my life and likled them all! Somehow I get the impression those guys might know me. What do you think?

No question dear sender - I enjoyed it muchly!

Second piece is a very smartly made collage with an explaining message on one side:

A little hard to decipher in my view. Is this better?

Making a girl smile at my age - that's something, ain't it? I'm a vegetarian since January 1st, 1974. That makes four decades now. Happiness is a very individual thing. Don't know whether and if so, in what way being veggie could be linked with it. But I don't believe that happiness is a warm gun - no sir (but a digital camera is, of course, something different):

The booklet already went into my little collection that's still growing - slowly, but ...

Thank you very much Gina Ulgen. Great mail art day today!

Yesterday I found this magnificent youtube video by Ven. Wangchen Rinpoche on being a vegetarian: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSVjjvFPpQ8

I knew Rinpoche quite well for many years.

I don't know much about thr tree now. Have lost contact to the place almost completely.

Oops I see you answered that! How big is the tree now?

In 1991 I planted an apple tree with His Holiness in the garden of Hamburg Tibetan Center:

I'm the guy on the right.

Great commentary Erni - Thank you! Glad you like it too.

I had a feeling you would know of the monks. I don't think you need any feng shui tips really, your place looks as though there is plenty of room for chi.

The Dalai Lama walked past me in Cambridge last yr - that was a little surreal! & yes he was smiling too!
