MAIL-ART UPDATE: Rare DK Chunk-O-Skunk Sells for Record $1.99 - DW Visits Blood Bank for Funds

"Skunk Chunks" mail-art by IUOMA member Diane Keys (Elgin, Illinois, USA)

July 5, 2011 - Setting a record price for work by legendary Roadkill mail-artist Diane Keys, Dark wall - a New York collector - paid $1.99 for "Skunk Chunks." Only two "Skunk Chunks" pieces by Keys are known to exist. The exchange also included a trade of a reported 1,000 postcards by Minnesota mail-artist Grigori Antonin - raising the total cost of "Skunk Chunks" in excess of $2.00.

Semioticians have hailed Keys' "Skunk Chunks" as a definitive breakthrough in the emerging field of biopoetry.

"Skunk Chunks" was originally sent by Keys to New York asemic poet De Villo Sloan. However, the piece mysteriously disappeared when its public display caused a riot in a posh Mexican restaurant. "This stinks," said Sloan. " 'Skunk Chunks' is mine. I don't know how Dark wall got it. I have filed a complaint with the Sand Police."

Dark wall responded: "I saved 'Skunk Chunks' from the dumpster. It was recovered by someone in the restaurant during the riot that Sloan caused. DVS told me 'Skunk Chunks' was revolting. I see that has-been at the post office almost every day. He's always hitting me up for stamps. Most of the mail-art he receives is lost under his car seat. I obtained 'Skunk Chunks' honestly and at great personal expense. I think the entire mail-art community should kiss my ass - including DVS - for preserving an international treasure."

Dark wall sold his blood to a plasma bank in order to raise the funds to pay for Diane Keys' "Skunk Chunks."

"I want one of DK's old shoes as a reward," said Dark wall.

IUOMA member Dark wall sold his blood and traded his Grigori Antonin mail-art collection to recover Diane Keys' "Skunk Chunks" masterpiece. He is currently enrolled in the Martha Stuart School of Asemic Wallpaper.

"That boy is P-I-G!"

But seriously, S & R are all spiffed up because they plan to cash in on chunk-o-skunk rage with Stubbs' book "Splattered: My Life on the Road with DK." I've already ordered it. Can't wait.

Stubbs got a dye job! It looks great and a great way to cover the brand. Angie, Ramone and Stubbs the pig are no good. THey stole my heart, played twister on it, then threw it in the trash behind Tequila's nightclub. But I know they can change. So, I still take their collect calls and make them dinner every Friday night waiting for them to come. I even buy flowers for them to give to me. I've tried so hard to forget them, but no amount of mail art creation will put them out of my mind. If you ever meet them, do yourself a favor and run the other way.

That's Stubbs (the pig) and Ramone - close friends of DK who came back to the celebrate the skunk-o-chunk. I think you have the only other one known to exist in the world. I'm sure DK would love to tell you about Stubbs and Ramone.

Will shocking revelations about her past dethrone The Queen of Roadkill? Read Stubbs' shocking new book: Splattered: My Life On the Road with DK:

He is as devious (DVS) as he is talented. I really don't think he'd look good in Prison Blues and I'm sure Possum Pie is NOT his idea of comfort food.

He better start walking the straight and narrow soon or the sandpolice will be knocking on his cardboard box. I heard you kicked him out for home fireworks display

I just did the math on this. There aren't 1000 Grigori Antonin postcards in existence, including the fake Ray Johnsons in Japan that are accounted for. Slick trick - DW dumped a bunch of fake Grigori Antonins on the market. There are enough already.

DK - vigilant crusader and investigator of THE ROA-DK-ILL Conspiracy. First she revealed the awful truth of roadkill in the prison system. Now she blows the whistle on corporate chain restaurants.
