Mail-art by IUOMA member Eduardo Cardoso (Sines, Portugal)
September 9, 2011 - Bloggers at IUOMA have recently posted some amazing compilation blogs: Collections of work by multiple mail-artists that invite viewers to find common threads and stark contrasts in the work. I decided to use this approach with some favorite pieces of mail-art received during the summer (but not posted until now). What better way to start than this in-your-face-post-punk by Eduardo Cardoso? It came in a great envelope:
Eduardo Cardoso's paranormal mail-art blog is a treat not to be missed:

Dear friend Karen Champlin (Highland Park, Illinois, USA) sent me this exquisite, postcard-size visual poem. I think it is absolutely and totally KC at the top of her game, a summary of her innovations and achievements so far in condensed form:
Karen always sends a sweet note:
I am tickled that KC is the only person on the planet who remembers my "blue tape" series and often includes a nod to it in mail-art she sends me. I think Karen has improved upon the original concept with the SPECTACULAR use of red tape in her recent work.
Visual poet Matthew Stolte (Madison, Wisconsin, USA) has been sending me pieces that spark lively discussions at the IUOMA. In addition to his fantastic vispo, he sends found objects and cryptic texts that often defy attempts at conventional interpretation. A recent envelope contained the most astonishing material yet:
Included here is completed work and scraps. Reverse sides provide more wonders and a bit more information:
"Scrap from Eden Poems" is intriguing. I especially like the vispo piece. Matt has a great blog connecting to all things vispo, concrete, mail-art, and a little bit of Fluxus:

Many thanks to Eduardo, Karen, and Matt for sending some exceptional work!

Oh, the first ever DVS bulk blog! :-o (very elegantly re-named here) Great summer package, I hope you'll blog more of them.
De Villo Sloano :-)) I'm in stitches. And "De", that very sweet too.
