Heart Matters to Lisa (Skybridge Studio's). It Matters Alot.

I sat with this gift a long time last night.  I realized how much Heart Matters to Lisa  (Skybridge Studios). It matters a lot. How could I tell?  It was the nature of the heart that put together a book for a person she does not know - the care-filled making, the giving of mail art which she has received and now passed on to me, and the heart choices that accompany her work. A beautiful book in a box labelled "National Society of Daughters of the  American Revolution". And you've just celebrated Independence Day? This book arrived on 4th July.

Within the "mailbox is a museum" container, bound in leather nestled Lisa's contribution to the on-going project (WOMEN ONLY!) Heart Matters.  Lisa made the book pages from brown paper packets which are sewn together at the spine.  Each packet acts as an envelope into which she has inserted mail art she has received over the years which deals for her with Heart Matters.

In white, almost secret, CLEAN writing are the words from the  George Harrison song - The Answers at the End.

/Scan not a friend with a microscopic glass

You know his faults, now let the foibles pass

Life is one long enigma, my friend

So read on, read on, the answers at the end/.

Some words from Beautiful Loser (Jolie the Drama)

"It seems like she can never win

She got the short end of the stick again

She's out of time, she's out of luck

her life is routine & she feels stuck"...

The imposition of a negative on a negative.

/The speech of flowers excels the flowers of speech

But whats often in your heart, is the hardest thing to reach/

Tired eyes - a mail art zine by IsisAnyanka

"I feel like I'm re-inventing myself again. I have these moments alot in my life, like you could read in tired eyes #1 and I feel like I'm on this crossroad again"

(And still the heart beats.

Still my Beating Heart. )

/And life is one long mystery, my friend

So live on, live on, the answers at the end/.

/Dont be so hard on the ones that you love

Its the ones that you love we think so little of

Dont be so hard on the ones that you need

Its the ones that you need we think so little of/

Isn't it true, memories like shadows touch with fleeting fingers the conscience. When last did you think of the much loved, little cared for one?

/You know my faults, now let the foibles pass

'cause life is one long enigma, my friend

Live on, live on, the answers at the end/.

There are other inclusions in this book - for example Solutions to the Problem of the Eternal Triangle - "Volume No One, Issue One in the beginningless, endless series - Sweet Revenge, The Wicked Delights of getting Even (Regina Barreca), but this version of Heart Matters? It ends with "A Band Aid for a broken heart - apply as directed - apply as needed".

My conclusion?

Like all women, Heart Matters is a complex subject. It binds who we are. The heart of a grown woman? It beats in unfathomable depths, it echoes in places that cannot reached.  It pounds in the darkness WILLING suffocation by beauty.   It skips in the light and  breathes quietly in uncertain spaces. Tread softly you who dare to engage with this force that pounds within.

Lisa - what can I say?

One heart touched by another :-) X
