A Blog for Karen Greenwood -The Tale of The Cave of Crowetjie Fistak

The Tale of The Cave of Crowetjie Fistak

Karen’s instantly recognizable fantasmical winged creatures are very familiar to artists who have corresponded with her.  As a recipient of Karen’s meticulous, well crafted work for over a year, I was so pleased to  receive an answer to my request for an alternate fairy story.  The invented world of Karen is presented from her envelope right through to  her title page – The find of a cave begins with what’s in there.  For SURE!

Inhabiting a cave which until recently was covered in water, lies a world filled with Fisherbirdies  - now we all KNOW these  creatures survive in water AND lack there of – one of the perks of being adaptable.  Their king, who looks a little different is very lonely.

He’s a normal king – muddled – but he had the MOST FAB dream  - brought on by his incessant imbibing of Poppy Dew. Dream-like Love.

Alas, she was just a fantasy.

So all day long he must wait, at the entrance to his cave (has he read Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus – this is a CLASSIC man position), pining for True Love.

The king has gone (too much Poppy Dew), but his cave and subjects are still living in the minds of the people in a retirement village. That’s because the nurse, when she’s having a good day, gives them Poppy Dew, to remember True Love.  Needless to say, there is a LONG waiting list at Crowejtiehurst Retirement Village in the Midlands.

Karen – thank you – cant wait to include in my alternate Grimms Brothers :-)
