A change from Nancy Bell Scott

Thank you Nancy for this piece.  As you can see, someone opened it to try to get all the money, but the French La Poste was there to save the day.

The real change from Nancy Bell Scott

Yes, this will come in handy if I am ever in the USA.  And if I am, I'll make sure I buy you something with it.  I'll go to one of those 99 cent stores.  You know the ones, the ones where everything costs 99 cents, but when you check out, it costs $1.07.  Why don't the call it the $1.07 store?  Why are the little coins worth 10c when the bigger coin is worth 5c ?  Also the little one just says "dime" and the other one says "Nickel"  why don't they have numbers on them?  You see what you…

TP from DK who seems to be on a roll

Well it seems that Diane Keys is on a roll and rolling that Mail Art out.  I received this wonderful creation which we all see but never want to change.  The support is from the toilet roll itself, and the last sheet of paper made it all the way to Paris.  I think this is Diane’s answer to the black toilet paper I sent her.  http://iuoma-network.ning.com/photo/scary-nights?context=user     Since we are on this…

Katerina Nikoultsou’s (M2 x T3 + F4) = Christmas Tree

We’re back, and if you remember that a few blogs back we left off wondering what the missing element in Katerina Nikoultsou’s matter squared x tension cubed.  Well the answer is (M2 x T3 + F4).  So if matter squared x tension cubed = Mail Art, then matter squared x tension…

2003 Vintage Erni from the master himself

Yes, you are looking at a 2003 vintage Erni.  Although this wonderful creation is not yet 100 years old, I plan to somehow get it into the Louvre on Sunday, 5th of February 2012.  Please note this in your agenda and hold me to it.

Matter squared x tension cubed (M2 x T3 = Mail Art) from Katerina Nikoultsou

We received this in a brown paper enveloped, and began to opened it at once.  "Wow", Vanessa said, "I like this one".  "Yes, it is very interesting, but I don't think it is meant to look like that.", I said.  "What do you think it should look like?", she said.  "Well if my calculations are correct, and I remember my physics experiments, this is matter squared x tension cubed which would only equal Mail Art.  It seems to be missing an important element, now what could it be?” I said. …

Two Cans from Erni ... And if Erni can, I can can

I always thought that these Erni cans were a myth, but one day not one, but two showed up in my mail box and there they were, signed by the master himself.  They can with a spoon and choclate wrappers as well.  A Erni classic if I ever saw one.  Well all I can say is that Erni can then I can, and I can do the French can can.  Watch this space!    Thank you Erni for keeping the wheels in my head turning.…

Kunst magazine from Erni

A thank you to Erni for sending me a copy of the Kunst magazine.  It is in English & German and is full things happening with the German national gallery.  It's a place where Haptic Werewolf ideas come alive.

ID theft from Val

I guess it would happen sooner or later.  Yes, Val has become Barcode Bonkers.  This one is painted by hand from the master himself.  Note the texture of his lines, and the boldness of white on black.  A real treat for even non-bar code lovers.  Thank you Val.  I did calculate all the numbers twice, but still came up 1.78 short.…

GO from Svenja Wahl

Many delightful artefacts came to Paris from the famous Svenja Wahl.  The Effiel tower in the middle of Dean, now why didn't I think of that.  Thank you GO GO Girl!

IUOMA from Cernjul Viviana Maria

Directly from the Hannah Hoch Fan Club, which I believe is just around the corner from the Erni fan club.  Thank you for this piece and for the enlightenment.

Post cards from Paris from Jeff Berner

Ana Banana sent me some information about an artist who was showing in Paris; Jeff Berner.  I met up with Jeff at his show ... (OH no, very strange, while I was writing this; I just received an e-mail from Jeff).  He has just informed me that George Whitman who was the owner of Shakespeare & Company here in Paris passed away yesterday.

George was a real icon for many of us in Paris.  Many years ago I went to see George to try to sell him some of my books.  I remember he said to…

Three from Brent

It is always a wonderful surprise to get Mail Art from someone you have never heard of before.  Who is Brent?  What does he sell?  Where does he live?  And the big question is, why would he send me these wonderful pieces of art when he must know that I can only offer barcodes, barcodes and more barcodes!  He is a talent that I will be watching, and who knows, maybe someday I will be ready to; "Go beyond the Barcodes."  Thank you for these Brent, I will soon be sending you ......... yep,…

Bits from Val, and a clear message to our friends in Greece

Bits from Val and a clear view of how to clean up the European ecomomic problem.  Beer cap is not Lonestar Texas beer, but rather Newcastle Brown ... I think.  As for the one British penny, well I'm taking it with me to England next week, and will spend it on something I can send to Val.  What can you buy with one British penny?  We'll see!…

French Post Box from Val

Now you can print this out and have your own French Mailbox.  Val suggests that I stick a copy over my post box at home.  This might just confuse the mailman, but it could be fun for a good laugh.  PS By chance I ran into our postman the other day (very very rare for Paris), he told me that he enjoys seeing all the art work.  I told him about the website, and he might sign up, he says he is also an "Artist".  Please Note: He also wanted Diane Keys' telephone number, but I didn't give it to…

Non-birth anouncement from Jen Staggs

My own personal non-birth anouncement from Jen Staggs.  So can anyone guess what chairty Jen and her husband gives to?  My print is on what looks like the accounting pages from 1913 of the Klichinger comapny.  I think this Texas company use to manufacture baby high heel shoes, baby cowboy boots and baby cowboy hats.  It seems that they went out of business and have been forgotten quite a few years ago.  Luckly, we will remember Gregory Peck forever!…

Another Mail Art test from Val

Another Mail Art test from Val. I thought I did pretty good but confused Erni's Bar for the IUOMA HQ. Also added Val in his upstairs studio, the place were the wise don't venture to. I am still awaiting the results of my test. If I pass, I would be moving up one level to Mail Artist third class.…
