Susan McAllister: Raining Eyeballs

I like Susan, she always leaves it to me to come up with a title for her art work.  It's like being a consultant, but without the high salary.  Then again, Mail Art like this is well worth the effort.

My hunch is that Susan knows what she is doing, and has a trained background in drawing.

Thank you Susan, you're amazing, and love your…

XX Jones: Vienna post card or Windows in my mind

VEry clever idea from the Raised Letter Queen herself.  There's more than meets the eye.

Open the windows, and you will find deep thoughts ...

 and even some nice dreams.…

Katerina Nikoltsou: Forbidden but not forgotten or Barcodes that disappear

This is one that went missing for a while, but now it is back and has been added to my Katerina Nikoltsou National Library Collection.

Over time we have discovered that some barcodes disappear over time. Hence the question; "Are Barcodes are Human even if they disappear?" and which came first, products or barcodes?

Some food for thought this weekend.…

Erni Bar and The Schoko-Banana chocolate band

Well here they are and right in time.  Erni sent me some chocolate Christmas tree decorations.  They all look happy in that box, but what will Dean do with them?

EAT THEM or PUT THEM ON THE CHRISTMAS TREE.  Vote on this blog now!  You will determine the fate of these little guys.  Deadline is this Sunday, 2 December…

Carina Granlund: Horror Vacui Boekie

What a wonderful surprise to receive a Boekie (14 pages in total) from Carina which came in a Mr. Rain envelope.

As I understand it, somewhere in the deep jungle of Finland there was a dragon who ate skiers.  One day the dragon met one of the ABBA singers (I think it was the blonde one), and they were happy together until they went on a ski trip.…

ViZma Bruns: Hot Stuff and the naked flame

Quick light a match!  Very funny mail art from sister Hot Stuff herself.

Seeing this in the our letter box, I quickly ran out a purchased a few more fire extinguishers just in case.

Thank you Vizma, I enjoyed…

Suus in Mokum: Abstract Amsterdam

Abstract in many ways.  A small painting which was a big hit here in Paris, and the abstract coding of an artist.  So if Suus is short for Susanne, and Mokum is a nickname for Amsterdam then ... I forgot where I was going with this.

Just enjoy what you see.

Thank you…

Ana Kawajiri: Horas de oco dedicadas ao horror do vazio (2012)

The last in a series of Mail Art received from Ana before she left Paris.  Very deep meaning of a complete artist.

Thank you Ana, good luck and keep creating.

Katerina Nikoltsou: Two forks in the hand is better than three on your plate

Two forks arrived in a plastic case from Greece without an envelope.  It has the mystic words; "Kate Valetine".  What could this mean?  Who could this be from?  Should I open it?  What should I send back?  The pressures of Mail Art, normal people will never understand.

Thank you Katerina for sending this mail art, and maybe thank you Val for putting your fork…

Ana Kawajiri: Everything you can think of is True (2009)

This one is from Ana's series; "assim e se lhe parece" (and if you think so) N° 12.  She did this one in 2009, and it sat around her appartment until the time it was time for her to go back home.  Lucky for me some things just needed to remain in PAris.

Thank…

Ana Kawajira: Planet N Galaxy Series and AR series

I'm not sure by law if I'm allowed to put two series together, but here they are on the same blog.  This is Planet N Galaxy (2010) or what I see is a full circle which reminds me of a round trip.

From Ana's AR series (2012); Blue AR (Aller Retour = Round trip)  OH yes it is blue in Paris as Ana has left to return home.  It even rained the day she left.…

Ana Kawajira: Drug Food and Abstract Origami

Yet more chill pills in Mail Art.  This seems to becoming a trend.  Sadly these have a side effect which is that the Abstract Origami looked no longer abstract, but rather normal.

The Abstract Origami came in a yellow clear envelope.  Wild !…

Marie Wintzer: Bubbles Boekie and other lively drugs

The last time I saw one of these, I nearly got myself into trouble. But here it is for real. Quite a little gem, and delightful to hold and page through. When you put the boekie together, the story goes from English, to French, to Japanese to Czech or maybe Slovak. (not quite sure).

The story starts off with a young girl walking to High School. She arrives at the school and starts walking up the steps of the main door. All of a suddenly she hears a noise behind her, she turns…

Janine Weiss: Happy Birthday Card

Janine Weiss send me a very nice birthday card, but my birthday is not until January. But I always say; better early then never. I now sadly see that Janine Weiss has left IUOMA so we may never know why she sent it early.

It will have to go down in history as one of those unsolved mysteries.  Like Stonehenge, or why spaghetti breaks in 3 pieces when you bend it.…

Erni Bar : Gunning for a gunny sack (Jute-Sack) and a pick up

A Jute-sack?  In my day we use to call them gunny sacks.  And a pick up wasn't a candy bar!  How things have changed in the art world!

Well when I was a child, we use to have a sack like this to store the potatoes.  So as a performance piece I ran out to the market and purchased some very nice potatoes.  I then put the potatoes in the sack, and that is where I…

Guido Vermeulen: The Flower Arrangement & Stop that Music

It came in through the bathroom window, protected by a silver spoon ...

"Stop that Music" is a photocopy of images & a music sheet which I found inside of a painted envelope entitled The Flower Arrangement.  The music sheet is of the Beatles song, "She came in through the bathroom window".  It is all part of the grand illusion of course.  And without smoke or mirrors!…

Diane Keys: Copies, Do not Return - Take it or Leaf it

There is no returns or even refunds from Diane's leaf pattern prints.  And besides, you can't find something like this in the street or a shopping cart.  Very clever, and amusing.

Thank you for your new direction.
