Marie Wintzer: Seaweed and rice, and everything nice

It arrived in the last tide of mail.  Just like a messge in a bottle.  Rice glued on seaweed paper.  What a great idea.  Too bad the scan does not do it justice.

Thank you Marie, C'est vraiment une choucroute garnieJe…

MomKAt: Barcode Love

Two very different cards from MomKat. One with a very original barcode.  It looks like artists and designers are finding their beauty.  The gold coin is a wrapper.  It arrived empty.

"Bar codes are stickers too".  Or maybe sticklers?  And look at that fancy barcode:…

Janine Weiss: Diamond Bike & a magical Garden Boekie

Amazing.  This little 18 page boekie is packed with fun images to keep you smiling for hours.  And it must have taken many smiling hours to make.

And yes, those are real diamonds on the bike wheels.

Thank you Janine, a great surprise.

Erni Bar: Treasure of the pharaohs

From Erni, this game is where you chip away the stone to see what is inside.  Our postman thinks there might be "coke" inside.  I told him "coke" isn't art.  It's a 3D object so the scan didn't work very well.

We'll come back to this another day.  Maybe a video needs to be made.  I hear you Mummy saying; "OH dear, not another one of Dean's…

Willemien Visser: The Mosque of Omar modified. There's nothing like a picture postcard.

Willemien's very clever modification of The Mosque of Omar.  No not the guy on The Muppets, this is the one in Damascus.  You need to look close but there is a mix of three differnt styles buildings.  It surely doesn't look like that in Damascus.  Nor does the little girl.

Thank you Willemien, be seeing you…

Sarah Churchill: N° 294 Tape Squares, and more

Sarah has now mastered the Jon Foster's "Tape over the Top" method.  And no bits have fallen off.  Keeping bits attached is very important.

Thank you Sarah.

Alicia Starr: Swimming Goggles brings Night Time Giggles

Well not giggles, but screams of laughter.  An amazing idea.  Although it wasn't a package from Erni, one should always have a knife near by just in case.

Things got a little hairy when eyes start looking back at you.

They say;…

Erni Bar: A Bridge Too Far

Erni sent me this little row of sticks attached together.  To top it off, he paid 2.99 euros for it.

What ever in the world is it?      And whatever am I suppose to do with it?

Watch this space (stay tuned).  By tomorrow I'll have and anwser.  Today I'm a bit busy with it being V day and…

Mim Golub Scalin: 153 year old French letter with British approval

Simple yet WOW.  An old Paris map (doesn't have the velib (bicycle) stations, and a 153 year old letter in French.  Not to be mistaken for a French Letter. Yes you can google it.

The letter in French was stamped in Newcastle on Tyne, UK (where Val comes from) on March 13, 1860.  Amazing how the two go together so well.

Thank you Mim, material do…

Mail Art Martha: Thinking about Mail Art and Origami Bananas

To fold or not to fold, that is the question.  I received this Origami Banana and an original MAil Art Martha trademark postcard.  The item on the right is an add & pass, which is difficult for me as I never use envelopes, but I'll try.

Thank you Martha, I keep unfolding it and re-folding it to see how it…

David Stafford: Thirteen Sleeping Women

Well I'm taking a shot in the dark that this is from David Stafford.  Although his name is not written anywhere, the sense of humour and style is there.

Actually I didn't know that David could do water colours, and this would not be the first time he has surprised me with his work.

The dead give away was "Lavern Smollett"  David is the only one who would know about Lavern.  Lavern is the daughter of Tobias George Smollett.  The man who invented the…

Erni Bar: Strange Yin & Yang or Fire & Water or Good & Evil

Two simple 3D foam "C" elements locked together.  On the back Erni writes; "Strange Yin & Yang    Fire & Water    Good & Evil"

At first it looked simple, but then many deep meanings come to mind.  If Fire is Red and Water is blue, then shouldn't Good be Red and Evil Blue?

It would be interesting to come up with a questionaire with words, and people would have to attribute colors to them.  Yes, I'm sure someone is going to tell me that it has already…

Roland Halbritter: Arti Stamps from Germany

Roland lives in Germany.

Roland makes Arti Stamps and other clever mail art.

Roland is not a member of the Banana group or even a member of IUOMA.

Roland and I  send Mail Art to each other from time to time.

Roland so far has not said that he does not like what I send him, so this is a good sign.

Roland says I can use these Arti stamps in my Mail Art to all of you.

Roland, that is just what I'm going to do.…

Diane Keys: Please

Please Please Please help me

When I was younger, so much younger than today,

I never could paint or draw in any way.

But now these days are gone, I'm so self assured,

Now I find I've changed my mind and I paint like before.

Thank you Diane, The black board brings back some great memories. Like having to write 50 times, "Dean will not make the…
