Mail Received - Diane Keys

Somewhere I read a comment by Diane Keys that she does not like still lives with flowers and fruits and finds them boring. So when I received Diane's minimalistic postcard I thought of a special surprise. I went out and bought the ingredience to arrange a little still life especially for her. It is loaded with mail art related symbolism, such as BANANAS and TANGERINES.…

Mail Received - Suus in Mokum

I can see that Mail Art can become quite addictive. You do not need to receive big parcels, even a small envelope like Suus can raise the serotonin, dopamine or whatever hormone level and soon you are hooked. You send out more mail so that you can have more mail art highs. Is there a disclaimer somewhere that warns people of the dangers of mail art addiction? Is…

Mail Received - Erni Bär

The postman rang my doorbell while I was in the shower. I clambered out of the bath and got dressed quickly and the postman apologized because the mail did not fit into the mailbox. God knows what he thought about the piece of mail art, which I was to receive from Erni Bär. I had been awaiting this with trepidation as he had announced it a few days earlier including some ominous remarks.…

Academy assignments

Having joined Moan Lisas Art Academy is an adventure. So far the assignments have been challenging. I considered not submitting anything, because I did not feel inspired. But then I thought I had to come up with something, anything. And…

Mail Out - South Africa

I have just mailed off my first contribution to Sheryl Penn's collaborative artists book, 27 x 2 pages. I am not 100% sure of the result. It is hard to imagine what it will look like as part of a book. It would have been easier to make single cards.

Mail Received - Guido Vermeulen

This card  by Guido took me by surprise -  I did not expect another mailing so soon! Both Britain and India are very close to my heart, so I really appreciate the tension and humour in this collage of Victorian ladies and Indian dancer . The card is appropriately called "Culture Shock". Makes me crack up up every time I look at…

Mail Received - Erni Bär

I am pleased to say that I received a card from the Erni Bär Fanshop, and the shocking news from Hamburg that Erni is willing to act as an organ donor, donating his brain. This brightened up a gloomy November day in my…

Mail Sent

I might stop documenting my mail out once the novelty has worn off, but right now I am having a blast. Here are some envelopes featuring my first selfmade rubber stamps.

Mail Received - Arttower

It is interesting how the context changes an image. Arttower's friendly little lady, which I am sure you have all seen many times before, found her way onto a kitchen shelf, ready to step out of the frame and start helping to cook. Thank you!

Mail Received - Barry WT Hall

Barry's small collage is the third art mail I received so far. I really like crows and ravens, did you know? I have communed with crows more than once. Thank you for the advice, I will try my best! The little stray dog, which usually lives somewhere hidden in the back of the shelf has come out and seems very pleased to have new…
