Debra Mulnick's Blog (23)

Received from Tara Odorizzi in Oakland, CA

These are images of a fantastical and & beautiful mailart.  The first image is all three pieces.  The next image is the inside of the envelope.  Tara used oil pastels (I think, but not certain) to conceal and reveal the contents of the page.  I love the colors, and flowing movement of the drawing.  The last image shows the Emperor (I deemed him that), with his army stationed below amidst more color and textured, crumpled colored papers.  The background of tiny blue patterned dots…

Received from Dean, aka Artist in Seine

Many Thanks to Dean for this fantastic piece of Mailart!  I love Moët Chandon.  How could he have known, since this was my first mail from him?

The golden can on the reverse side, is also a perfect specimen.  Only a master mail artist could have secured a can to a postcard so well that it withstood the trip unscathed - from Paris France to Boise, Idaho.  Outstanding work!!!!!  With gratitude, Debra…

Received this damaged bit of mail - address only with a rabbit!

Did anyone here send this?  Or have a clue who may have?  It obviously was separated from the card or envelope which it had been attached.  Darn it.  We all need to be really good with adhesives!  Thanks for any help.

Postal Outliers Exhibit Open - Boise State University in Idaho

This exhibit was conceived of in November 2019.  We had no idea what was about to unfold in the coming year.  We had a tremendous response to our International Mail Call.  Over 250 objects from 174 artists from 24 countries and 19 states were received.  In addition, we highlighted 8 artists from my personal collection.  The gallery is the only one open on campus at the moment, however it is technically closed to the public due to Covid-19.  Lack of funding has prohibited a digital version…

Received from Sticker Dude - my envelope made into stickers!!!

Joel took my last envelope and created stickers from a collage I made (guy with billboard).  The cauliflower head was a found image which I addd the IUOMA logo to his ballcap.  For some reason, the image reminded me of Michael Moore,  and I jotted that next to it.  Joel created made these into stickers too.  I feel honored to have the…

Jackpot of fantastic mail

On returning from an extended holiday, I am sifting through a pile of wonderful stuff.  For me, it's easier to post individual images on the photo page, so watch for some cool stuff over the next week.  Thank you everyone for such creative postings!

A huge thank you to Gerda Osteneck in Sasketchewan, Canada

This thick packet of delicacies arrived a few weeks ago.  It includes a sampling of handmade papers that Gerda created this summer - most of which include linen, rayon and other fabrics as well as more conventional fibers used to make “paper”.

They are all so beautiful tho the one I love most is the front dark blue square made of rayon &…

Incredibly complex collage by Charlotte Geister

This amazing collage has so many wonderful details.  First, the blue and yellow flower print (upper right corner) was made by Charlotte.  She juxtaposed the wonderful NY street scene, which has compelling iconic images/billboards with great colors.  The crown on top of the building is a very unique bit of multicolored fabric which Charlotte attached with some…

I received an A&P Book!!!!

This little book is such a joy to hold in your hands.  The size and weight of it, the craftsmanship with which it was made and bound.  The choices of pages and paper, and the cover!  I love the franked (and unfranked x2) stamps, a used envelope that originated from ED Giecek.  I was surprised by how much I love this little book.  If anyone of you wants me to send it on to you next, please say so.  I will be sad to pass it along, but happy to share this amazing work of mail…
