Mail Art Collaboration with Mike Dyar

I once altered a piece from Mike and sent it back to him, and now he has done the same. I LOVE how he altered my original merry fluxmas postcard. He has blown it up to 8X 11" and added his stamps etc. and sealed the whole thing in some kind of glue or sealant that he uses often, and mounted it on cardboard. Collaboration is my favorite part of mail art--then it becomes…

Brain Scrambling VisPo from Bil Kopeland

Toby Tweet 124--Toby the basset hound seems to have inspired this VisPo that is a cross between a shopping list, todo list, holiday greeting card, personal journal, illustration of English as a second third and fourth language, manifesto, invention log-ideas that ended up on the scrap heap,  commentary, comic monologue, proof that our brains work like predictive text…

Trashpo History Being Made

I was ecstatic to receive this envelope from Marie. It says, "Hi DK You have so many TrashBooks, I thought you needed a TrashBookmark. (The other piece is data collected from my mice, cells in the brain that are active during a memory task. Maybe Trash...) I couldn't believe I might be the first and only recipient of original Marie Wintzer Trashpo!!

I…

Second Hand Vedas from Bentonville from Richard Canard

Got a used Yogi Tea bag from Richard Canard made into this found object mail creation. My favorite bit of wisdom from the tea bag philosophy is this: "Don't sleep counting sheep. ount blessings then sleep." Seriously, these are better than fortune cookies. Thanks Richard, but I will not be like my deceased Aunt and re-use it. Recycling must have its';…

Beautiful Fresco de Cnosos Postcard from Val

Was lucky enough to get a postcard from Val of this beautiful artwork and Greek and Brittish stamp. The best part is an asemic message on the back. Kindly he has decoded it for me and I think his cats have told me they love me:) Tell whichever one lays on your art to move their big body and let you create! Thanks Val you made me…

Existential Everything and Nothing from ArtLikeArt

This is one of the most exciting conceptual pieces I have received to date. The first thing I saw in the mailbox was a videocassette size box that said "Empty" on the side and on the other it says "This package contains nothing but what you imagine to be inside. Don't open it. You'll be disappointed. The drawing on the outside of the box is amazing and I take it as a self portrait-she'll tell me if I'm wrong. So, what is inside the box? Did I open it? I did actually, against her better…

Aluminum Envelope from Richard Canard

This is one piece of thin-ish metal folded over. The edges were taped so none of them were sharp. I think it's great they let this go through as is. It is a first. I have never received a metal envelope before. Also received another envelope from Richard that I will post another time. On the return address he put U.S.A.D.D. That would explain a lot of things wouldn't…

Vispo from Angie

Received this great piece from Angie sans Snooky. I think the layering is so wonderful and the stitching ties it all together. My sewing machine constantly malfunctions when I'm sewing on paper but it still looks great. Thank you Angie--also received a photo card of ZKK at your house. She is now on her way to Superhero's house!…

Stunner from Nancy Bell Scott

Received this today from Nancy. It has her characteristic style of outlined abstraction-controlled chaos. Look like windows to another world that can not be contained by those two boxes. I love the layers of paint she has used. I also received a chubby envelope full of fantastic trash-including pulverized mcdonalds packaging. thank you for your generosity Nancy:)…
