My First Completed Add and Pass

I must admit that I choked up a bit when I received my first completed Add and Pass. A heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone who contributed along the way.

The add and pass was made up of envelopes I had received from fellow mail artists. It was rather delicate but along the way, people added and made it sturdy.…

Prayer Wall

I have started to try to promote prayer among the members of IUOMA, mostly through private messages, with perhaps a couple of public comments. I have met a lot of resistance to the idea of Catholicism and prayer; I've had a lot of people unfriend me or retaliate for my asking people to pray for the spiritual health and well-being of IUOMA and the Eternal Network. This I do not understand, honestly. If you don't believe in prayer, fine, don't participate; but why criticize me, one who does…

From: Joey Patrickt (0104-0619)

The Lyons' Den has been corresponding with a certain Mr. Joey Patrickt since July 2018. At the time I was five months into mail art - a mere cub trying to understand all the ins and outs of the Eternal Network.

Envelope from Joey Patrickt, addressed to UPROAR (my mail art…

Remembering the VW Bug - a new Add-n-Pass

It saddens me that Volkswagen has decided to cease production of the Beetle. I have lived in San Francisco for nearly 30 years without owning a car.  But I have fond memories of zipping around in that orange, 1973, VW Super Beetle during college.  That car was so fast.  I actually have dreams where I still drive that car.  After a trip to Europe, I plastered the back of the car with stickers in various languages, mostly…

Mother Teresa

"If you ever feel distressed during your day, call upon our Lady, just say this simple prayer: 'Mary, Mother of Jesus, please be a mother to me now.' I must admit, this prayer has never failed me."

Blessed Mother Teresa…

Color pencils from Lorella Castagnini

A lovely piece of art, with a magazine  article.  I don't read (or speak) Italian, but I believe the article is about the inventor of the hexagonal pencil: Ebenezer Wood.    The two pencils on the left  are little tiny pencils.  Its amazing how something as mundane as pencils can be new from a different perspective.…

"Urinate," John M. Bennett

I was raised Catholic by my parents, but not for the entirety of my childhood.

In kindergarten and first grade, I attended Catholic school. I was always getting into trouble there, for various things; but the story which I like to tell mostly is the story of when I was caught by the nuns for urinating all over the bathroom walls. I was dragged up to the principal's office, in front of everyone, kicking and screaming. My sister always brings up this story, and how embarrassed…

Gabriel Nathanael Rossmiller (8/7/6-11/13/10)

Documented by my good friend, Guido Vermeulen, before his own passing, is this piece of mail art that I sent out en masse in 2011 to mourn the passing of my son, Gabriel Nathanael Rossmiller:

Eastern Catholic Rite

Ilya Semenenko-Basin this morning pointed me into looking into Eastern iconography of Mary in response to a post I made with an image of Mary from a vintage magazine, which had been my response to a group posting by Jayne B. Lyons. I had heard of the Eastern Catholic Church, but didn't really know much about it (still very little, as I only briefly touched on the Wikipedia page.) But I learned something wonderful from my mother, after telling her about my brief conversation with Ilya. My…

Can Trashpo Endure in a Green World? Cor Reijn (Zaandam, Netherlands)

Cor 7.10.2019 - good

Mail art by Cor Reijn (Zaandam, Netherlands)

July 10, 2019 - I was elated to receive this wonderful card from good mail art friend – Cor Reijn – in the Netherlands. With this elegant and highly conceptual piece, Cor Reijn expresses an issue that I am confident many are pondering at this moment. (Yet no one before has been able to express it so perfectly!) Thank you Cor Reijn.

I believe the question is…
