Next up, a big bright red envelope from Truman Bentley, Jr. of Columbus, Georgia. Inside are some recipes for steak dishes, a pizzeria circular headlined "PROMISE OF DELIGHT", and a DVD.

And here's a big vanilla mailer envelope from Dan Buck, who lives in Armour, South Dakota, stuffed with fables about dogs and Mythical Creatures Found In Ancient Wood, a collage poem, a lovely green collage with American Indians, a flyer for an SFMOMA event this weekend which i might actually go to, and some cut-out newspaper funnies. Frank & Ernest, Zits and Baby Blues.

Last but not least, John M. Bennett in Columbus Ohio has sent me an envelope containing the following goodies: an add-pass booklet on the theme "In Your Eyes", a Vorticist Triangle card, a couple of poetic 5 1/2"x 4 1/2:" cards, and two very beautiful pamphlets made by folding 8 1/2" paper into quarters, with art and poetry.
I just challenged myself!tag:iuoma-network.ning.com,2017-09-29:2496677:BlogPost:21557802017-09-29T21:29:23.000ZVel Crowehttp://iuoma-network.ning.com/profile/VelCrowe

That's why I've issued myself a little creative challenge for this afternoon--making ten [10] cards with these requirements:

*Each must be a standard 5.5"x3.5" (13.97x8.89 centimeters to our non-Yank friends) USPS postcard size.

*All of them are to involve lines from the poetry book, the National Geographics, and these particular newspapers I just took from my huge hoard, nothing else (except for pens, pencils, and paints).

To proceed thusly:
1-I take from 1-3 lines at random from the poetry book and write them down small and neat in a spiral notebook using a red ballpoint pen.
2-using colors, National Geographics and newspapers, make a visual that relates to the poetry.
3-cut out the lines copied in my notebook and paste them into the visual.

Sounds like fun, huh? Now let's see if I can actually do it!

I'm BACK! [Warning: Sorry-Ass Excuses Ahead!]tag:iuoma-network.ning.com,2017-07-16:2496677:BlogPost:21384942017-07-16T07:30:00.000ZVel Crowehttp://iuoma-network.ning.com/profile/VelCrowe

Hello, all! recently i've been a lazy lout, haven't done any mail art or much else. Some folks sent me beautiful and clever pieces i haven't acknowledged nor responded to.

Because--aaw, phoooey on sad-sack sob-stories and angstified alibis!

What it comes to is that I've been remiss in my creativity and I owe some good people (you know who you are!) some apologies AND some art. I'm gonna get back down to it.

Our Internet service where we live is not always entirely at its best, like recently, and i've got a streak of indolence in my makeup that's a mile wide, so sometimes it takes me a little longer than we like, to respond to messages--but please do be in touch, 'k?.
