I'm currently obsessing over David Bowie's song, "Blackstar" and am mulling not over its lyrics (which are always interesting), nor the video with images for days. Actually, I'm more interested in the cadence of the song and the choice of sound he chose. It almost was reminiscent of Peter Byrne in that the beginning is grand, spacious and lush with expansive sounds that reminded me of an opening scene of say, Laurence of Arabia. But then, he switches the song in the middle to his signature…

But then, he switches the song in the middle to his signature voice with experimental-indie, Björk-type sound. Granted, Bowie's pseudo-eyes sewn into a blindfold that reminded me of Guillermo del Toro's pale man creature is hard to forget.<br />
Bowie can still provoke and inspire with a perfect blend of what seems odd creative choices, but he is the originator of Ziggy Stardust...so I guess I shouldn't be so surprised.
