""My life would have been different, if only .... 35mm FILM STILL EXISTED"

(#79 in the present series --only one more to go, and then a NEW series.) And I could shoot black and white films to my heart's content...AND (this is the important bit) get them developed easily.

Thanks Shellie -- but what's the population of Chicago - 2 million plus? There's only one city in thewhole of France -- Paris -- with that sort of population. In medium size, small and very small cities, devoloping  photo labs have disappeared. And in villages like mine, they went out of business years ago when the digital 'revolution'  took off.

As to starting a collaboratibe dark-room, well, I think I'd have more success starting a do-it-yourself open-heart-operation-clinic-with-no-anaesthesia-business!

Well... I checked online and 35mm still for sale may places. I know in Chicago there are still a lot of developers and an open source photo darkroom.  Maybe you need to start a collaborative darkroom! People share the cost of rent + chemicals. ☺
