I made this for a class. The artwork had to evoke a memory or be based on a memory. I chose an old black and white photo of myself, scanned it, colored it digitally, cropped it and glue it inside an envelope as a preview of the card inside. I drew childish little butterflies on the outside to give it a childlike innocence. I wanted everything on the outside to look happy and innocent, like the proverbial perfect childhood, which is what my family looked like from the outside.
