We love those postal additions!

Some times mail art gets lost in the mail, and other times the mail company is so kind to add something to our mail art. Dynamic art, I love that!

In this group you can post the postal additions to the mail art that you´ve sent or received. Additions by the mail companies which made you smile, touched you or whatever. Additions which are, in fact, part of the Mail Art!

And an other extra bar code, this time over the address and not so easily removable.. And in exchange, the Post tore off a little part of the artistamp..

Thank you, Cascadia Artpost for this very interesting mail!

@Heleen - the black barcode looks like it was applied here in the US. I have no idea if any postal services can read the codes from another country. Glad the added one could be easily removed, just like the USPS ones.

Even though the address is correct and there is already an other bar code, PostNL often likes to add an other bar code. Over the stamps, this time...

I was very relieved when I found out that the code was easily removable!

Thank you, FinnBadger, for sending this great mail!

The latest example of Cancel Culture —  there's something particularly brutal about this postal addition

A business letter that was returned from Lithuania

This just arrived from Jean-Charles Boilevin,  possibly the first mail I've received marked 'A TAXER' (the international version of 'postage due') because he hasn't used any valid stamps. Or is it part of the design? Luckily I didn't have to pay to receive it.

Example of a PostNL addition I don't forget:

(sorry for the blurred photo, the rest of the available time I had to spend with removing the - this time very sticky - sticker :-) )

(but the xoxo on that specific code of course was a big comfort for me :D )

If it is not the machine, might the hole have been caused by someone who tried to put a thin hot skewer into it, just to see if there was any smahsmallow left?!?

True, FinnBadger, it is a label/sticker with a code, added by PostNL. To me these are so common that I forget that it is a postal addition, too. Unless they stick over the stamps...

Also, Heleen, what is the label that you can partially see reading RC2VV - was that added by PostNL?

Thanks for showing the postal additions and openings, Heleen. I have sent a couple of these 'envelopes' before, and they weren't damaged by the machines.
