I just reorganized my artspace to make more room for more works in progress. 1 Reply

I work on many pieces simultaneously - not just mail art: paper, mixed media, collage, panels- and I had run out of space to place incomplete work as it dries. So I built a storage rack with many shelves, shown here in the back corner. Now my…Continue

Here's my artspace today, about like it usually looks. Semi-controlled chaos.

This is my work space this morning. I cleaned it up a bit after yesterday's play time. The center space diminishes as I play, and I have to clean up periodically or  have no room to make anything. I love my little studio. To the right of the work table is my sewing machine and fabric piles, behind me is a bookcase and a tiny desk area with my lap top and scanner, next to that is the ironing board which functions as another work top, and sometimes for ironing the fabric pieces I make. A small but functional space. It used to be our daughter's bedroom.

Julia,

There's a favorite lyric of mine "From Chaos Comes Clarity." I'm fairly certain that almost everyone here can relate when it's applied to a workspace.

Oh what a shame it must have been to have to work with such a view! ;)

Well just when I thought I didn't have any photos, I found a few of my 1 week studio in the Canary Islands.  But I had to clean up every night before dinner.

This is me with my staff of art critics.  I'm the one on the right with the halo!

Oh, what a mess!  But I'm comforted that others work in similar conditions.  I'm hoping to have a new space this summer when we renovate an old cinderblock building in our back yard.  Just in the planning stages now, but it's something to look forward to...

It was a great idea, Vizma! It provides insite into how & where we all create our distinctive styles, which can tell you just as much about the artist as the art itself.
