Post boxes

In my holidays I took photos of public post boxes sometimes, but sometimes I forgot it. Feel free to upload your own, but not letter boxes please.

Theresa: I'm not sure what the effects on my mail delivery would be if I was to pass your message on to monsieure le Corrier -- it might get better, or then again it might get worse. Perhpas you could send a photo of yourself to him, and I'll stick it to the outside of my post box for him. And then we will see.....

Katerina: I suppose that the Post Office sells them off from time to time, but I don't really know; they are probably available on e-Bay, but I don't look at ebay...ever. It used to be possible to buy old telephone boxes, and they turn up all over the world.

Ruud: can you make Mr Reede and Honorary member of IUOMA?

Regards to all Val

Aha, Val, now we know were all those missing red Brit mail boxes went to: The Isle of Wright. Or have some been stolen by the yankees, too? How does one "collect" a British mail box? Are the "old" ones tossed in the garbage? Sold? Stolen?

For most people their gardens are devoted to flowers and plants, but eccentric Arthur Reeder keeps his collection of 190 postboxes in his.

Mr Reeder, 52, has spent 18 years amassing his massive collection of mailbox memorabilia and now stores them all at his home.

The electrician is still carrying on collecting despite laying his hands on a box dubbed the "holy grail" of postboxes - the Penfold.

Where is the green one from? Gibraltar? Malta, There's a dispute going on in the Nexcastle (NE England) because some post boxes have been painted unofficially painted green, and the Post Office is getting very hot and bothered about this (rather than concentrating on providing a decent mail service).
