In my holidays I took photos of public post boxes sometimes, but sometimes I forgot it. Feel free to upload your own, but not letter boxes please.

Bonsoir! I went for a walk around the village today to see I could find in the way of (private) Post Boxes. Sigean will never become the Post Box Capital of the World, but here are some of the Boxes i found (starting and finishing with my own, plus hat and scarf as it was a cold day -- for me, not the Post Box°°;Hope you like them. Val

Dear Aliciia, I was going to suggest that there are possible slogans here such as 'Mail Art for Male Artists' and 'Femail Art for Female Artists' [plus, of course, variations for Gay, Bi, Tri, Trans etc genders] but this will probably lead me into a lot of unncessary gender debates that I don't want to get into, and so I won't make that suggestion at all, because this is supposed to be about Post Boxes after all. Pretend that you never read any of this politically incorrect and intellectually scrambled message. regards, Thomas (I think it's Thomas who's writing this)

bonjour Val. the word Postal hère has the connotation of going crazy: 'he/she went postal'. This slang term derived from many postal workers losing it from all of the mail ;-)

you know i so respect the 'other side of the pond'. and especially your postal boxes. And the ones in Argentina as well.

Good point about changing the name. It's becomes tiring to explain the IUOMA. Always to need to add, Postal Art, not Male Art. Ok, that is it for today. There is mail art to be made. adios.   xo

Bonjour Alicia!

I left it about 25 years too late to start campaigning about the 'Mail' in IUOMA, so will let that one go.

But I'm not going to give up so easily on the Post boxes' vs 'Mail boxes' issue. Now you lot over there may have 'US Mail' and mail boxes, but us lot over here have 'La Poste' (France), the 'Post Office' (UK) etc.

As this Group originated with Lutz (Bundespost, Germany) and Ruud (TNT Post, the Netherlands), then I think that y'all should respect the 'Other-Side-of-The-Big-Pond-That-Seperates-Europe-From-the-USA' argument..

The next thing I suppose y'all will be complaining about is that 'Mail' can be thought of as a sexist term, and seek to change IUOMA's name to the International Union of Male and Female and Gay and Transgender Male and Postal Artists or some such nonsense.

Oh well, if it's going to be 'IUOMFGTMPA' I'll have to make up a new rubber stamp, a long one.

Regards, Val
