I would like to have in this pages old Add and Pass with the Bath Tub with my image. In the beginning of the ninties I received and sent 4-5 BathTubAddandPasses everyday and it would be nice to know if/where they still remain nowadays.

ADD and PASS: loved and hated from a pair of decades at least! Because at the end for all mailartists it is love and hatred. At the end of the eighties and first nineties I received one sheet every day and sometimes also four or five sheets a day: what a job to work on all of them, to duplicate and multi-plicate and to pass! Sometimes I had not freetime for the other projects. But my obsession was the sheet with a bathtub. You had to put inside your image or face between the other one of mailartists. Those bath tubs arrived and arrived again. And the predominant address was always the same: Locust Valley, Ray Johnson. I hated him because he never answered. Only some years after I knew that the idea of ADD and PASS was by Ray; he never answered to those sheets but now they take part to the history of Mailart. He generally did not answer to anybody and he continued to launch some news, but he collected all sheets he received: now they are the history of Mailart. Fortunately I did not put them in the trash, as many Mailartists did. I added and passed so many times as possibile.

Il mio archivio è alquanto informale...
Comment by Henning Mittendorf on February 19, 2012 at 11:57am Hi Tiziana! I looked through my add-and- pass-on-mail-art-pieces I kept as examples. (The main part of my archive I handed over as a gift to the Museum für Kommunikation in Frankfurt in 2004 as you know.) And I am sorry I didn't find your bath-tub piece, also no a halfway state one. Only a few other pieces.
But now and then I am getting add-and-pass-ons till today.
Greetings HeMi
Comment by Ruud Janssen on February 18, 2012 at 5:29pm that will be great! I was in contact with arto posto in those years, so you might fins one that came from me.
Comment by Keith A. Buchholz on February 18, 2012 at 5:15pm When I was sorting and identifying Mailart for the Chicago Art Institute last year, I found 8 of these in various stages of add & pass. They had all come from the papers of Arto Posto, and had been stored in boxes since the 80's. I found a lot of incomplete add & pass work there, I guess she didn't do them, & just left them in the envelopes. I'll try and get scans of them the next time I'm there.
Comment by Ruud Janssen on February 17, 2012 at 7:30pm good question. There is surely a new generation that is most active here.
Comment by TIZIANA BARACCHI on February 16, 2012 at 10:25pm Hey Ruud,
are there too much young mailartists in IUOMA?
Comment by Ruud Janssen on February 15, 2012 at 7:57am Anyone else have samples in digoytal form that they can share? There must be thousands of these in archives worldwide....!
Comment by Ruud Janssen on February 13, 2012 at 6:48pm I have some that are started closer to Ray Johnson. Will look them up. Now I know where to look.
