An artistamp (a portmanteau of the words "artist" and "stamp") or artist's stamp refers to a postage stamp-like artform. It is similar to a Cinderella stamp in that it is not valid for postage, but it differs from a forgery or a bogus stamp in that (typically) the creator has no intent to fool any post office or collector of stamps. (However, depending on how the stamp is used, it may be difficult to distinguish artistamps from local post stamps.) The artistamp is intended to be a miniature artwork which can depict or commemorate any subject its creator chooses.

Dear Ruud, Greetings,

As Per Thee "AXIS of EVIL", by Jim Swanson, as Buster & I
used to say, ..."If You're in it, It's a Good Catalogue." Ha. There is
some different discussions of all This, & might be a good idea, to
Hear what people have to say, but I don't know how to set up this
sort of a Forum. Absouletly Beautifully Done, & Really Nice
Color Plates... Probably one of the Best Books, w/ Repros. of
Artist Stamps I've ever seen.

Stay warm,

Sincerely,

Doo Da

A beautiful book on Artistamps. Gift from Jim Swanson. Large full colour book with historic material. A treasure to see and go to.

Ah, yes! It was one of the prototypes and was fun to play with, but I haven't thrown away my stamp edge scissors!

OMG - eepy I had to join just to comment on you Perfer madness ATC. I love it. I remember you (and Carla) from the old Artist Stamp ("what does this substantive conversation about a current event have to do with Artist Stamps") Yahoo list. Good to see you're as awesome as ever. Did you get a coveted Whizbang?

Seeing so many nice designs of stamps coming along, I thought to give it a try as well. I'll take my pinking scissors to create some nice zigzag edges.
