When the IUOMA was 20 years, the members managed to send in enough texts for a complete book. With the 25 year celebration, that wasn't that succesful. Too little materials.

Maybe a retry for 2018? Are there some authors amongst you who care to write about the state of the Mail-Art network in the new century

Already 11 articles are submitted and there is room for more.

So the book will be published, with or without you.

I aim at a book of 150-256 pages. Each author will have his short biography included. Deadline for submissions is September 2017, In October the book will be launched.

Some people ask about subjects to write on. Suggestions that are open:

1. Mail-Art in the age of Internet.

2. Is digital work also Mail-Art?

3. History of Mail-Art for someone who enters the network in this decade.

4. Mail-Art catalogues or websites?

5. Male dominance in the Mail-Art network?

6. Postal Tactical Gear: Enduring Political Storm

7. Mail Art Culinary Tips and Beauty Care

8. Non PC Postcards to Share with Friends and Family

9. Adventures of Sharpie: The Story Continues

10. Attention Grabbing Mail

11. Mail-Art on Wikipedia. Is the right story told?

12. What will happen to the Mail-Art Archives that mail-artists have built?

13. How to create a Mail-Art exhibition.

14. Will the new children ever exchange their tablet and smartphone for a postage stamp?

15. Is Mail-Art dead?

16. Mail-Artists working places. Overview based on the group online.

17. Choose your own special topic and/or subject.

Sounds like a good subject which I would love to include.....

Hello Ruud and all other IUOMAers,

when I heard about this project (email from Ruud), I started immediately to write in my head! I am enthusiastic about the project and will try to delineate my contribution if delineating/circumscribing is required and if -I did not yet read the whole discussion- all contributions are welcome!

Wishes for PEACEful interacting, playing, living and working together,
in these days, in 2017
and in general,

Willemien

Will be interesting to see what comes from you....!

I have rethought my original comment I made about wishing to contribute. (I don't find it here. Believed I had moved it here from the 2018: IUOMA 30 years old group page. Must be in the aether now.) Anyway, it sounded too much like I was proposing some kind of manual of do's and don'ts about displaying mail art. I'd like to look into the way mail art has been presented through exhibitions (other special events?), online, (could there be other formats?). Although I haven't been involved in mail art for a terribly long time, I've noticed there are quite a few ways to go about this. Do you think it would be a subject worth researching to get a better sense of this aspect? Have a good holiday! John

Yes, als an article from someone not that long in Mail-Art will be very interesting!

Great, thanks! Looking forward to any info updates re guidelines and such.

SI ME GUSTARÍA PARTICIPAR EN ESTA PUBLICACIÓN

TENGO UN BREVE TEXTO SOBRE MAIL ART AL CUAL DENOMINO COMO ARTE CORRESPONDENCIA Y EN EL TEXTO EXPONGO EL PORQUE DE ESTA DENOMINACIÓN, ESTE TEXTO VA ACOMPAÑADO DE IMÁGENES CREADAS POR MI Y QUE DE UN MODO HAN SIDO PARTE DE PROYECTOS O HAN PARTICIPADO EN ALGUNA CONVOCATORIA

A DONDE ENVÍO MI COLABORACIÓN

GRACIAS

English please?

" Yes I would like to participate in this publication.

I have a short text about mail art in which I denominate correspondence art and in which I explain the 'why' of this denomination, this text is accompanied by images created by me and that in some way have been part in projects or have participated in some calls.

To where can I send my contribution?

Thank you"

(I like to translate! - to me it wouldn't be a problem if there are some contributions in Spanish, or French or German, for instance, because it emphasizes the internationality of mail art :-)
And I hope this translation is correct?)

currious enough to read the text. Can be sent to r.janssen[at]iuoma.org

hi!

I totally agree with the idea of including texts in their original language but also translated to english when that possible is, best wishes !

hi ruud, count me in, I would like to write about my experience with mail art during the 90's decade, as a mail artist located at the north of méxico... I have some questions:

1. when is (or will be) the dead line to send contributions?

2. Is there a minimum or maximum extension requirement for the text?

3. Is it possible to buy or get (or download) the first book from 2008?

Also I may write in spanish my text and then translate it, so I may appreciate the collaboration of a colleague who would correct my english style...

best wishes !
